Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Mystic Lilac

WOW. This. polish. is. amazing. Purple-beigey colour with green/blue shimmer flecks that the sun just catches at the right angle. Four coats to awesomeness. New favourite fall colour. That's all :)

The flecks were hard to capture because they are just so tiny! You can see the undertones though right by my index finger on the bottle. :)

Ugh. So frickin' gorgeous :) I NEED THE REST OF THE FALL COLLECTION ASAP! :)
Have a great night, guys :)

NYC Colors - MoMA

This is my second NYC polish ever. It was very cheap, and I have to say.. it didn't disappoint. I've had it on for 2 days so far, and I don't even have tip wear! This might actually be one of my new favourite colours, to be honest. It's a beautiful jelly (I love jellies!) and it sort of has a dusty plum-ness about it, but it's still pink. The only problem I had was it was the formula was very watery. It took four coats, and even then you could still see white tips a bit. I can over look that though, just for the pure awesomeness of the colour.

The only thing that irks me about this colour is the name. It doesn't even make sense! Haha. Have you guys tried this colour, or any other from NYC?
Have a good night, bloggers!

NOTD: Revlon - Cherry Crush

Revlon, Cherry Crush is actually such an old polish of mine, but I decided to do a NOTD post because I rarely do them! I've been wearing this for 2 days, with no top coat, and I they look as good as they did when I first painted them! Cherry Crush is a shimmery red with tiny, tiny micro glitter spewing around. I'm not usually a red fan, but I do love this red very much- probably because it's not too red. I actually wore this colour to my prom in 2009.. so yes, a little old (or a lot?)
Also, my dorm is actually the worst place to take swatches. The pictures are always blurry, the sunlight sucks through a window (not to mention is has literally been raining every day since I've arrived) and even the artificial lighting is bad. Time to invest in a lightbox? Perhaps. Anyway, onto the pictures!

Flash

Shade; not very accurate though.

The picture with the flash captured the colour best, I think. Can I also mention that this was a one-coat wonder. No.. I am not joking. It was fabulous. Application was smooth, and flawless as well. I'm noticing I don't criticize polish very much, do I? I can't help it. I literally love almost every colour I wear- obviously!

Do you guys have any favourite Revlon colours?
Have a great night :)

LA Colors - Current

I've started to notice that I have been posting a lot of the same brands lately, and for that I am sorry. I had a pretty big haul not too long ago, and most of them were either Sally Hansen's, OPI's, and LA Colors. I promise though, most of them I have swatched, so hopefully I will have something new for you!

All that aside, yes, I do have another LA Color for you! I'm sorry, guys :( I do very much like this colour though. A sheer, green shimmer (if that makes sense?) that took a few coats to get opaque, but worth it. Not much else to say!

The sun really picked up on the blue undertones too! Gorgeous :)
Have a great night, bloggers :)

American Apparel - Peacock (!) + an update!

Well, things have been crazy and hectic around here at NGN. I'm finally all moved in to my new residence, and things have been SO busy, I haven't found a spare minute to blog at all. Until today! :) The day before I moved, I went on a little shopping trip and finally picked up a lemming of mine - American Apparel, Peacock. What a gorgeous, gorgeous, GORGEOUS COLOUR THIS IS! Possibly my favourite colour for fall.
Two coats till perfection, a beautiful deep teal cream. I only picked up one, but now I'm kicking myself in the behind for not getting more.
Anyway, enough blabbering, onto the pictures!

Do you guys have a favourite AA polish? I'm lemming towards Dynasty next! :) Have a great night!

OPI Swiss - Yodel Me on My Cell

Hey all! Just a quick post tonight, I still have a lot to do, and I move tomorrow at 7am! Ew. Here is OPI's Yodel Me On My Cell from their new 2010 Swiss Collection. Out of all of them, this one stood out the most to me. I intended to buy Lucertainly Look Marvelous, but at the last minute put it down. Shame on me.

This colour is so unique. I don't have any other ones like it in my collection. A nice shimmery teal-y blue. So nice. It could have taken two coats, but I was being careless. Might I also mention that this sucker was one hard thing to photograph. I took so many, and most of them were either blurry, or looked crap. So these are the best ones I could get. So, here you are!

What are your favourite's from the Swiss Collection?

Enjoy :)

Just take a look at what there is to offer!
Geez, what are you still doing here? GO ENTER RIGHT HERE! :):)

NOTD - Skittles!

Just a quick post, I'm leaving for the day very soon, but I was really happy with how this mani turned out, so I thought I would share! Skittling is one of my favourite things to do with my nails. Today I used different hues of blue. :) On my index finger, I accidentally bumped it, so there's a little indent, but I didn't have time to fix it, oh welll

On my index finger I used my franken I made as a dupe for OPI's What's With the Cattitude?, on my middle finger and thumb I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, Pacific Blue. My ring finger is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, Blue Me Away!, and my pinky finger is OPI No Room for the Blues.
I love how this turned out :) Sorry for the crap picture, and obvious no clean-up, I'm in a bit of a rush. That's all for now, hope you enjoyed!

Do you guys like skittling? What are your favourite colours to use?
Have a great day!

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Blue Me Away!

And, it did just that. I love this colour. Blue Me Away! is the perfect blue shade. It always reminds me of the beach. The formula on this, however, did not "blow me away". No matter how many times I tried, it bubbled EVERY DAMN TIME. And, even with a base coat, it still stained my nails. Not impressed. It wouldn't be worth it if I didn't love this colour so much. Cremes are my absolute favourite as well, and this was opaque in just 2 coats.

sunlight

shade

I notice my pinkies always look awkward in my photos. It makes me laugh!

Also, just so you all know, I am moving away for school in 3 days (it's 12:01am right now, so yes 3 days!), so I am trying to swatch all of my polishes I own (a nearly impossible task seeing as how I have so. freaking. many!) because I don't know how often I will be able to get good pictures seeing as how I live in a dorm on the sixth floor. I'll try my hardest though! I am beyond excited, and I think it's showing. I can't get to sleep anytime before 2:30am these days! So stressed/nervous/excited/sad/happy at the same time!

That's all for now :) Have an awesome night, fellow bloggers!

Nailstah's Giveaway!

I love me some good giveaways, like the one happening over at Nailstah. It's open internationally and is awesome. Just check out the great polishes there is to offer!

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Mellow Yellow

Happy evening, all! Tonight I'm late on posting, but I got back from R's late. I have a really summery colour for you guys. I'm trying to get all of my summer colours up before summer is over (which is really soon, boo!).
So tonight I have Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Mellow Yellow. As is with all yellows, this was one streaky, pain in the rear. Eventually it evened out after 3 coats. I wanted to like this colour. I really did.. but I didn't. It was all wrong for my skintone, it was too bright, and I couldn't help but feel disgusted with my nails. They just felt, well, dirty. :( It's still a lovely colour.. just not for me!

This was in the shade. I find it looks better in the shade, but this is not how the colour really is.

Even in this picture, it still doesn't capture how damn bright it really is.

Do any of you fellow bloggers like Mellow Yellow? What about other polishes from the Xtreme Wear line?

Have a great night!

Nicole by OPI - Play Fair

Hey all :),

Tonight I have a very nice, lavender colour to share with you guys. It's from Nicole by OPI (a brand I personally love, despite all the haters out there!). This colour is very sheer, and took about four coats to get a nice opaque colour. Very pretty, and shimmery. I wear it when I need something nice and neutral, but still pretty.

natural light; 4 coats.

shade, no flash; 4 coats.

That's it for tonight :) I'm gone to R's house for the night tomorrow, so I won't get a chance to blog, but I have many more swatches lined up for you guys to see when I return!

Have a great night :)

Dainty Darling Digits Sula Giveaway!

The blog over at Dainty Darling Digits is having a great Sula Giveaway including the Paint & Peel polish (a huge lemming of mine!)

Be sure to check it out here!

LA Colors - Phenomena

Today, as I was outside doing some swatching of so many untried, the darn clouds crept up on my precious sun and hid it away! Darn. However, I did manage to get a few swatches done, for example LA Colors, Phenomena. It's a beautiful creme-y purple. This colour is gorgeous!

Gah, soo nice!

This is 3 coats, without top coat. I find without a top coat it has more of a satin-y finish, but I love it none the less. :)
Much more posts to come in the near future! Maybe no today, but definitely tomorrow :)

Thanks for looking :)

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear - Pacific Blue.

Another post, comin' right at ya! This here is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear, Pacific Blue. I adore this colour. It's not too in your face, but it's not too subtle either. Perfection. I absolutely love the Xtreme Wear polishes. For one, they are very affordable, and two, they have a wide range of colours. The application of them is usually a little thick, but I can deal.

This here is two coats. You can see how it got a little thick, and didn't really even out even after a topcoat. Ahh, oh well. I still love this colour.

Outdoors, natural light.

The only thing I really, really don't like about Xtreme Wear is they don't put the name of the polish on the bottle itself. Instead, I have to head over to the Sally Hansen website and look it up. Annoying for the more lazier people, like myself. :)

Thanks for looking!

OPI - Meet On The Star Ferry.

Hey bloggers! Today I have a very big lemming of mine to show you. OPI's, Meet Me On The Star Ferry. The moment I saw this colour swatched by other bloggers, I had to have it. Unfortunately, I live in a very small town that gets limited choices when collections come out. So, I had to wait, and wait, and wait until finally, I went away to Toronto and found it!

The application on this was perfect, and only needed two colours. I love love LOVE the way the sun catches it. Gahh, I love this colour!

This here was outdoors (on my boyfriend's porch, haha). Two coats, and a whole lot of awesomeness. :)

This is indoors, right by my screen door. I was too lazy to go outside, but I'm glad I didn't! I like how this picture turned out. :)
That's all for now. I did ALOT of swatches over the past couple days, so except to see some new posts very soon! Sorry for the long break, but it's not all bad because I got some more excellent polishes to show you guys!

Thanks for looking :)

What's With the Cattitude..Franken dupe?!

The other day I was browsing new blogs when I came across a fantastic one, Elle Hearts Blogs. Not only is she hosting an amazing giveaway, but she really seems to know what's in atm. So, what does she say is "in" at the moment? Pale sky blue hues, for example, "What's With the Cattitude?" Perfect! Only.. one problem, I only bought the mini's from the Shrek Forever After Collection, minus Funky Dunkey. And, my What's With the Cattitude? is dead. Nothing left, thick, doesn't even go on the nail. So, I either buy a new one, spending my precious money.. or create a dupe! Boy, how easy that was! I had two old bottles of polish, a white Wet n' Wild one, and a blue NYC colour I had lying around for ages. A few (thousand) drops later, and voila! Almost a near perfect dupe! These pics aren't that great, and honestly I couldn't even get ONE coat of WWTC to do a comparison, so I'm using a picture from an old post. :)

This is my dupe for WWTC? Love it!

WWTC? looks more bright blue in this pic, but honestly, they are soo much alike! I'm so happy with how it turned out.
Also, on an even better note, I have so many new polishes to show you! Some polishes including the new SWISS collection from OPI, a lemming of mine, LA Colors, a few Sally Hansens, and more!
However, you won't be seeing them until next week because it's my birthday weekend!

Have a great weekend, everyone :)

Shrek Forever After Mini's- which I'm sure you've all seen :)

Today I have the Shrek Forever After mini's by OPI, which by now I'm sure you have all seen. I took these some time ago, but forgot about them, and seeing as how I'm still trying to get my nails back in shape, I figure now would be a good time to show you. The colours I have, in order from index is: Rumple's Wiggin', Fiercly Fiona, What's with the Cattitude, and Who the Shrek Are You? I love these colours because they are so fun, however I did not like the application whatsoever. Yuck. Streaky, thick, bald spots. Just horrible. Maybe it was because I just bought the mini's? I have funky dunky in the larger size and I had no problems with it, so I'm sure that's it. I can't say I have a favourite because I seriously love them all! The only one i didn't buy was 'ogre the top blue'. Not sure why, really. It just didn't stand out to me. Hm, lol. Also, when i took this picture, the weather was horrid, so sorry, but it has to be indoors, bleh. So, here's my swatch after so much babbling. haha! :)

Also, I just wanted to give a shout out to an amazing blogger. Reese from newbie nails is awesome! She leaves the best comments, and did i mention her amazing blog? Be sure to check it out!

Have a great night :)

Nicole by OPI - Yellow, It's Me.

Today I have an amazing yellow from Nicole by OPI called "Yellow, It's Me". This colour is amazing. It took four coats to get good coverage, but I think it's worth it. It reminds me of cold lemonade on a hot summer day. I know not many people like Nicole, but I LOVE this brand. There is always such fun colours :)

What do or don't you like about Nicole by OPI?
Happy blogging :)

Revlon - Minted.

So, as I have recently told you, I broke seven of my nails the other day :( *sniff*. However, I luckily had some swatches that I hadn't done yet, so I will be showing you those until my nails aren't just nubbins anymore.

So, today I have Minted by Revlon. I find it is close to Essie's, Mint Candy Apple. Hm.. maybe i should do a comparison to see. ..maybe soon :) Anyways.
I bought this colour after I had talked to Revlon about my issues with their Sweet Tart (it was a hot, streaky mess of awful), so they very nicely sent me a five dollar gift certificate. I wasn't about to buy another Sweet Tart, so instead I picked up this beauty.

The application was okay, a bit streaky and I got a few bald spots, but they eventually evened out on the last coat.. I do like the overall look of it though, nice and summery, which is my favourite for summer, of course!

indoor; with flash.

Happy tuesday! :)

I was very upset. i have a couple swatches i can post, but nothing new for a little bit. :( Sorry all.

Essie: Watermelon (!!)

Hey !
Today for all you polish pals, I have my all-time favourite summer colour. Watermelon by Essie. Seeing as how I am a huuge pink fan, and love wearing them in the summer, this colour is EXACTLY the right shade. I bought it some time ago, but recently I ran out of it. So of course I was very excited when I realized shopper's was having a sale on them for $6.99! anyway, this is my swatch.

with flash; indoors.

i thought this captured the colour a bit better?

I hope you all have a great day! Thanks for looking :)

Rimmel London - Lasting Finish Pro.

Hey everyone, :)
Yesterday I was at my friend B's house, and she surprised
me with part of my birthday present: four amazing colours from Rimmel's Lasting Finish Pro collection. :) I'm very excited! the colours she picked are very me, and all of them have the best shimmer to them. So far I've only tried two of them, Electric Pink and Marine Blue.
The other two colours I got are Midnight Blue and Violet Metal.

from the left: midnight blue, electric pink, violet metal, marine blue.

first up is electric pink. i love this colour for so many reasons, the first one being that i am a huge fan of pinks, especially in the summer. the second one is that when the sun catches it just right, it sparkles like a dream. did i mention the application was flawless? this is 2 coats with no clean up! the only problem i had was that you could still see the white underneath, but i think another coat would fix that :)

second, i have marine blue. also a flawless application. i think it's because they have nice wide brushes, much like opi's pro-wide. either way, i love it. this colour also shimmers in the sun and there's tiny, tiny sparkles in it that i tried to capture, but failed for my lack of camera skills! haha.

So there you have it, 2 out of the 4 polishes I received. I'll be swatching the other 2 sometime soon. Also, this is my first real polish blog, so go easy on me! I'm just getting the hang of it, but any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated!

thanks for looking, guys! :)

btw, i went camping this weekend and it destroyed my nails. :( i haven't even got to do my first real nail blog yet! grr, i promise it will be once i get these beauties back in shape. :)

newbie, i'll admit it!

i'm a newbie at blogging, and i've only just recently found my new love- nail polish! after going through countless and countless blogs about nail polish, i decided to start my own! although, it won't be nearly as great as all of those amazing ones out there. a girl can try! i don't have the best nails, or cuticles, but i still wanted to express my own opinions about the nail polish i try!

so, here's to all you other nail bloggers out there!
